What conditions can I consult for at Maha Ayurved?
We see patients for concerns in six areas: women's health, skin and hair, joints and spine, digestion and metabolism, heart and kidney health, and Panchakarma. A physician first assesses you and tells you whether Ayurvedic care is appropriate for your situation.
What happens during the first consultation?
Your physician listens to your concern and asks about your health history, digestion, sleep and daily routine. They also consider your constitution (Prakriti) before suggesting a care plan, which may include medicines, therapies, diet and lifestyle guidance.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Please bring any recent medical reports and prescriptions, and a list of every medicine and supplement you take. This helps your physician plan care that is safe alongside your existing treatment.
What is Prakriti and why does it matter?
In Ayurveda, Prakriti is your individual constitution, the balance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) that is unique to you. It helps your physician understand why two people with the same concern may need different advice.
Can I take Ayurvedic medicines along with my regular medicines?
Do not stop or change any prescribed medicine on your own, especially for conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Some herbs can interact with other medicines, so tell your physician about everything you take, and let your regular doctor know about your Ayurvedic treatment too.
Are Ayurvedic medicines safe? Are there side effects?
Natural does not automatically mean free of side effects. When medicines are prescribed by a qualified physician and taken as directed, they are generally well tolerated, but no treatment suits everyone. Never take Ayurvedic medicines without a consultation, and contact us if you notice any unusual effect.
Do I have to follow a special diet?
Diet guidance (Pathya) is a normal part of Ayurvedic care, and it is tailored to your condition, constitution and preferences. Your physician will explain what to favour and what to avoid, and not everyone is asked to follow the same diet.
How long does it take to see results?
It varies from person to person. It depends on your concern, how long you have had it, your constitution, and how closely you follow the diet and routine. Your physician will explain what to expect, and we do not promise fixed timelines. Please do not stop a course early without speaking to us.
What is Panchakarma, and does everyone need it?
